Description:

Erectile dysfunction affects 50% of men at some stage in their lifetime. This includes issues of erection – sustaining and maintaining, issues of orgasm- premature, delayed or absent, pain associated with sexual activity and specific conditions such as Hard/Flaccid Syndrome, Chronic Pelvic Pain and Peyronie’s Disease.

Research has shown that there is a strong link between cardiovascular disease and erectile dysfunction in men, so keeping whole body health in addition to pelvic health will be an additional focus of this workshop. Exercise prescription, pelvic floor muscle training and penile rehabilitation – including the use of vacuum pumps and medical management will be presented.

Opportunities for clinical case presentations and education to immediately translate to patients will enable you to more confidently deal with sexual health in men – a very significant and under-serviced area of physiotherapy that every practitioner could benefit from.

Audience:

This online course is open to physiotherapists, nurses, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, naturopaths, chiropractors, medical doctors, and any other licensed health care provider.

The instructors
Pelvic Health Solutions

Pelvic Health Solutions (PHS) is an evidence-based teaching company that aims to educate and empower physiotherapists, healthcare professionals, and everyday people about pelvic health.

PHS was founded in 2010 out of the need to develop pelvic health resources in Ontario at a time when it was an under-serviced health concern. PHS provides continuing education courses, mentoring, and clinical resources for a variety of practitioners with the goal of equipping them to deliver evidence-based, biopsychosocial assessment and treatment of pelvic health problems in our province and abroad.

Our company also exists as a way to connect people experiencing pelvic health concerns to pelvic health physiotherapists in their area. PHS has ultimately blossomed into a community of curious people who are committed to providing hope and healing to those who suffer from pelvic health issues.

A second RCT utilizing therapeutic ultrasound to treat scar tissue in the 1 in 6 men who develop Peyronie’s disease following treatment for PCa was also completed.

Jo has presented her research findings at several international conferences including WCPT15, 17 & 19, APCC 2014-18, CSM 2020 and locally at Men’s Sheds , Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and ANZUS Conferences 2011-2018. Recent publications include papers in the ANZ Continence Journal (2018, 2019) and BMC Urology (2019) with further papers in review, Jo provides workshops throughout Australia and internationally, lectures at Charles Sturt and Curtin University and in 2012 established, ‘PROST!
